I'm surprised to see anyone complain about the size simply because it's the result of releasing a good PC port. While most of the games cutscenes are realtime, they use a lot of video between missions to mask loading points. On the consoles, these videos were presented at 1280x720 but, for the PC version, they actually provided 1920x1080 video clips. Unfortunately, the game uses Bink which results in massive file sizes in order to reach decent quality.

I believe Bink was selected due to its low requirements which prevent skipping and stuttering from occuring while loading other data during a video clip. Typical console ports would just stick with lower resolution video but they actually went out of their way to provide higher quality clips. In addition, the game sports higher resolution textures and some other improved assets which no doubt eat up some space.

That said, the game itself is still massive. Of that 30gb only 8gb is reserved for movie files and another 3gb for audio.

The rest is composed entirely of game data. There's a lot of visual variety in the game, however, and loads of animation data that no doubt eats up space. A lot of people ♥♥♥♥♥ about the cinematic nature of the game but I think it works great in this particular instance. It's a neat experience and handles the transition between cinematic and gameplay better than just about anything else out there. I've never played a game that looks as good as Max Payne 3 on PC, and it plays great too. I came here before I bought it and I am glad I did as now I see its a 30gig download, now I know what you are thinking 'kid got no intenets' or whatever.the truth however, is much worse. My wife, children and I live in a remote village in Mid Wales in the UK and the ONLY internet provider for the area is BT, now we have our account with SKY and because SKY can't put their own equipmnt in we are capped at 40gig per month. Again this does't sound so bad BUT, all three of my daughters go to school and they each have laptops to do their homework on, the wife has her laptop for pintrest and other assorted crap and I have my gaming rig for well gaming and erm sites that grown ups look.
Now keep in mind that we don't get speeds of over 3meg on a good day and after we go over our 40gig monthly limit BT strangle the connection and slow it down at peak times.the times my daughters need to do homework, the time my wife wants to look at facebook and pintrest and other such♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. So do I want it YES can I.no not really and I am kind of♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥about it.

Game or Patch Questions?
Note: The cheats and tricks listed above may not necessarily work with your copy of the game. This is due to the fact that they generally work with a specific version of the game and after updating it or choosing another language they may (although do not have to) stop working or even malfunction. Extra care should be taken with modifications, trainers, and other things that were not created by the game’s developers.
In this case the possibility of malfunctioning or even damaging the game, which may necessitate reinstalling the game, is particularly high. Max Payne 2: The Fall Of Max Payne
Max Payne is a third-person shooter that sees you taking on the role of the eponymous rogue cop in a gritty, noir-styled crime drama. Released in 2001, the game pioneered the use of a slow-motion 'bullet-time' mode that would go on to be used in many later games. The violent neo-noir story concerns Max's attempts both to avenge the murders of his wife and child and to get to the bottom of a mysterious drug ring. Grit, guns and shades of grey Gameplay in Max Payne is pretty simple - if you've played other third-person shooters, you'll be familiar with the basics. Using your bullet-time ability is key to winning the gunfights; although your movements are slowed, having the time to think is valuable. Most of the time you'll be using pistols, but as the game progresses there will be more weapons to choose from. There are some platforming and puzzle-solving elements, but they're minor.
As the story develops, Max is plunged deeper into psychedelic horror. Max's hard-boiled narration can sometimes feel a little over the top, but this, together with the comic-strip panels that appear in the cutscenes, creates an appropriately noir atmosphere. Set out on your quest for vengeance If you like third-person shooters and enjoy the grey, grimy neo-noir aesthetic, Max Payne is a classic game well worth revisiting.
