Developed by BMW tuning expert Jim Conforti, this device plugs into the car's diagnostic port and flashes new performance files into your car's engine computer (ECU). There's no removal of the ECU and shipping, no cables, no laptop required - only a battery charger! Installation takes just a few minutes and your engine will perform like never before! The M3 performance software was developed on the dyno to create maximum power and torque using premium 91+ octane fuel and revising the torque limiters in the ECU. The software makes changes to the ECU's maps and algorithms for fuel injection, ignition timing, VANOS and camshaft movement, and transitional fueling. We modify the maps for part throttle and full throttle so you get better response and more torque at all RPM. Choose between a stock or raised rev limit.
The top speed limiter is removed. By fine tuning these maps we've been able to improve the S54 engine beyond what BMW did by making more power and torque and a smoother-running engine. The Shark Injector plugs into the diagnostic port inside the E46 cabin. With the battery charger supplying power, press the Upgrade button and within minutes the ECU is reflashed with the new performance tune. No other software product on the market comes close to how easy it is to install.
You can use the Restore button to re-install the stock BMW software at any time. Detailed instructions are included. Other tuners require you to remove the ECU and ship it to them or use a laptop to read and write a new file. The Shark Injector is ready to install right out of the box! A planned future upgrade will allow you to use the USB port to load different performance files.

When you restart the car it will be in the last setting you used. This is perfect for owners who use Sport Mode all the time. The Sport Mode button functions the same as before so you can turn Sport on/off at any time. The software will remember which one you left it in.

With the 235i strapped on the dyno, this BMW measured 292 wheel horsepower in stock form. With the flip of By Pass Plug, this BMW 235i got 346 wheel horsepower with just the Active 8 Piggy Back installed. That's 54 more HP at the rear wheels with a simple DIY bolt on.

If you need to install an oil pressure gauge in your BMW, you will need this to make everything OK. The ODB-KIT makes the final connection to the engine oil artery seamless and easy. Here are some findings on the Active Autowerke E46 M3 SC with the PRIMA + and various other BETA setups. Kudos to the guys at Tuning Tech FS for their diligence in helping massage the power gains from this unbelievable SC set-up. The Prima Dynojet results showed 426 WHP on 5.8 psi of boost.
Amazing but more to come. Going to the upgraded Prima Plus kit with methanol injection and 9.0 psi of boost raise the output to 514 WHP on a Dynojet. Active is adding a Prima Elite supercharger kit to the range. The pricing and details are not yet finalized but Tuning Tech FS is already tuning the setup. The Prima Elite and Prima Plus both run 9 psi of boost but the Prima Elite is running E85 fuel instead of 93 octane and meth.
The Prima Elite on E85 manages another 31.7 peak wheel horsepower over the Prima Plus with torque gains through the curve. We're waiting on further details as the R&D process is wrapped up but these are solid gains over what already is a solid supercharger kit: For the BMW E46 M3 SC running on WA/Meth, here is something different. Individual direct port injection for your methanol. Custom fabrication with re-sized meth nozzles ending into a custom Meth housing.

BMW E92 M3 normally aspirated being tuned on the Active Autowerke in house dyno. Running on RON 93 octane and equipped with open exhaust, larger headers and a drop in air filter, this BMW E92 M3 showed some good horsepower figures considering the high parasitic nature of the Mustang Dyno. Measured 402 WHP vs. 329 WHP of a bone stock E92 M3 on the same dyno. That's a 73+ WHP gain.
Do the math counting the drive line loss to recalculate the ponies at the engine crankshaft. That's some serious horsepower either way you look at it. With the Active Autowerke PRIMA supercharger installed and featuring a stepped exhaust header V2 design; 100 cell hi-f;ow catalysts; a X-PIPE; and a RACE exhaust system as performance mods, Alex is able to put down 426 horsepower at the rear wheels on a Dynojet under 5.8 psi of boost. As a beta-tester for the upcoming PRIMA+ featuring 9.0 psi of boost with Water/Methanol added, Alex M3 was able to record 514.20 horsepower on the same Dynojet. Working along with Tuning Tech,FS has been instrumental in acquiring results like this. The net effect is what the PRIMA and easily upgrade PRIMA+ can do.
Either way, the options for further upgrades like intercooling and a upgraded fuel system makes the BMW E46 M3 the most desirable performance platform available today. Factory horsepower for the BMW E46 M3 is rated 333 engine horsepower at the crankshaft. What possibilities could you create with 480+ engine horsepower from a bolt on system, That is almost a 50% gain over factory. Better yet, the pricing is unbelievable. Here is the latest addition to the arsenal of BMW performance exhausts by Active Autowerke for the E9x M3. Sporting a look of all BRUSHED 304 stainless steel, this exhaust has a lot more than the obvious. With large drone cancelling mufflers, the sound can be described as exhilarating with testosterone.

HOW WOULD YOUR BMW BENEFIT FROM AN EPIC MOTORSPORTS PERFORMANCE CALIBRATION? Modern engines have come a great distance in a very short amount of time. The combination of new technology and better components, such as, variable valve timing, Valvetronic, and forced induction result in better performance and increased fuel mileage as compared to the same displacement engines only a few years ago.
One of the rapidly evolving components is the Engine Control Unit (ECU). Modern ECU’s contain new powerful processors. The processors’ performance is measured in megahertz allowing performance in millions of calculations per second. All of these advances in performance and fuel mileage are running concurrently with stringent manufacturer emissions standards. These standards are very restrictive in nature; power output is greatly affected as a result. A single vehicle model will sell 100,000+ units worldwide and each unit must meet varying countries’ emission standards. In the US, the EPA requires manufacturers to cover specified major emission control components for the first 8 years or 80,000 miles.
A manufacturer cannot risk their reputation or their bottom line if they sell a car that has difficulty passing post-sale emission testing. To meet required standards, a significant margin for error is built into the calibration, which leaves power on the table. Engine sensors are built to read within certain tolerances. As these sensors age they will often degrade and the reading sent to the ECU will vary slightly. Knowing this, manufacturers err on the conservative side to help avoid emission/warranty issues by building in a margin of error. In addition to building in flexibility for ailing sensors, manufacturers are also forced to consider other wear items either from lack of service or neglect. Old spark plugs, dirty air filters, low grade fuel accidently or intentionally run through the engine are all taken into consideration when calibrated by the manufacturer.
As a proponent of performance you wouldn’t do such a thing, right? When calibrating an engine, manufacturers consider all of the above-mentioned factors, which leads to a conservative end product. OEM calibrations must function in all environments and take in to account countless variables. This means they are restricted when it comes to performance.
However, this also leaves great room for improvement when recalibrated in the aftermarket. At Epic Motorsports, we do not have OEM manufacturer restrictions. As a result, we are able to remap the engine calibration settings and focus more on output. This translates to better drivability, more power output, and often, better fuel economy. Our performance calibrations will increase a stock engine’s performance. As a car is modified from its stock form, the benefit from remapping becomes increasingly important and more beneficial.
As restrictions are removed by adding cold air intakes, exhausts, headers, cams, et cetera, the amount of potential airflow is increased; as a result, the torque curve shifts and the ignition angle, valve timing, and the fuel curve need adjustment. 200106 BMW E46 M3 (S54 Engine) HEX TUNING ECU SOFTWARE UPGRADE and Cold-Air Intake (gain approx 30-35hp/20-25tq) 295whp and 236wtq ECU software for the BMW M3 was enhanced by Hex Tuning and VF engineers resulting in a noticeable increase in throttle response and power. Various enhancements included comprehensive Vanos re-calibration for aggressive intake and exhaust camshaft timing and effective cylinder filling. This calibration was scientifically developed/tested and measured on a Mustang MD500-AWD chassis dyno using 91 octane. The top speed limiter was removed and combined with refined ignition, fuel and camshaft calibration. A MAF-less configuration is used to refine the throttle response in all environments and reduce power controls by the overly conservative factory calibration. This software is well suited with MAF-less cold air intakes such as the VF-Engineering cold air intake system for the M3.
Peak gains of 35whp and 25wtq have been measured when used in combination with the VF intake and performance exhaust.
